Outside of the State Meet, the Boys Goshen Relays is typically one of the most competitive meets of the track season. Saturday’s 75th Annual Goshen Relays was no different. In the Class A Division, the Eagles finished 13th with a total of 30 points. The meet winner, Fort Wayne Carroll won with 109 points.
The highlight of the day was the Sprint Medley Relay (100-100-200-400), which won with a time of 1:37.07. The Eagles came from behind during the final leg of the relay with an impressive anchor in the 400 by Junior Milton Toliver. The relay was made up of Toliver, Sophomore Jaydin Miller, and Seniors Elijah Davies and Roosevelt Hursey.
Besides the Spring Medley, Toliver was also a finalist in the 100 Dash and 4×100 Relay. Tolvier finished 8th in the 100 finals with a time of 11.83, just some 15 minutes after the conclusion of the Sprint Medley.
The 4×100 relay, also consisting of Miller, Toliver, Davies and Hursey finished 3rd with a 45.33.
The 4×200 finished 4th with a time of 1:39.37. The relay was made up of a young squad, Freshmen Jaylen Wright and Horus Weatherspoon, Sophomore Maceo Horton, and Junior Jaleel Dotson. The final event of the afternoon, the 4×400 finished in 3:45.20, good for 6th place. The relay was made up of Wright, Dotson, Hursey, and Sophomore Ethan Goodridge.
Goodridge was also a member of the two distance relays, the 4×800 and Distance Medley Relay. The 4×800 was the first event of the morning and finished in 7th place, running a 9:30. Goodridge, Sophomores Kyle Hooks and Joe Karban, and Fresheman Alex Blade made up the team.
The Distance Medley Relay, consisting of Goodridge, Karban, Blade, and Junior Logan Reimbold Thomas finished in 9th Place. Due to technical difficulties with the automatic timing system, there was no official time given.
In the individual events, Roosevelt Hursey finished 6th in the 110 Hurdle Finals. Reimbold Thomas competed in the 1600 Meter Run finishing 12th in 4:55. In the second section of the 1600, Junior Momin Mirza ran a 5:03, good for 12th place as well.
In the field Freshmen Vamoni Stubbs and Junior Anthony Orozsco finished 23rd and 24th in the Long Jump. In the discus, Senior Jacob Johnson finished in 23rd place.
As the season continues, the Eagles have continued to improve their season and career personal bests.
