The Girl’s Track and Field Team is state bound once again! The girls competed in the IHSAA Regional Meet Tuesday night at St Joseph High School. In the make or break meet, Junior Joselyn Mwenifumbo has qualified for the State Meet next weekend in the 100 Meter Hurdles. Mwenifumbo finished 3rd in the finals with a time of 15.60. The top three in each event qualify to move on to the next round of competition.
All three relays also competed in the meet. The 4×800 of Lane McDonald, Hannah Mihut, Adiyah Williams, and Olivia Wheeler led of the night with a run of 10:16.88, finishing 10th in the event. The 4×100 of Ryanna Latender, Jessiyah Lottie, Devyn Moore, and Mwenifumbo finished 9th overall, running a time of 51.60. Finally the 4×400 finished off the meet in 4:15.74, finishing 9th. The relay was made up of Lottie, Mwenifumbo, Mary Landry, and Ali Mihut.
In the field, Mayah Knowlton finished 10th in the High Jump with a leap of 5’0”. Carmen Chambliss finished 7th in the shot put with a toss of 35’5.5”. In the long jump, Mwenifumbo jumped 16’1.75”, good for 6th place and Latender jumped 14’4.5”, finishing in 15th.
As team overall, the Eagles finished tied for 17th with 13 points.
