In a uniquely scored event, the cross country team competed Saturday at the Elkhart/St Joe County Clash. Besides the traditional competition against the other 16 teams, the two neighboring counties compete against one another.
On the girls side it was a close race but St Joe County edged out Elkhart County with a score of 82-89. Elkhart County was victorious on the boys side winning 74-97.
For the team races the Adams varsity girls finished in 7th place with 193 points. Maddie Mischak was the top finisher for the Eagles. Mischak finished in 12th place with a new personal best of 20:30. Ivie Skube finished 23rd, Kate OBrien 28th, Ele Anderson 58th, Claire Stowe 75th, Fiona McGuire 80th and Grace Dawson 85th. The junior varsity girls team finished 6th place in their race.
For the boys, Adams finished in 11th place with 265 points. William Neubauer led the Eagles, finishing in 17th place with a new personal best of 17:13. Kieran OBrien finished 52nd, Will McCarthy 61st, Alex Macharaschwili 67th, Amar Beganovic 68th, Ngor Agwick 71st and Brendan Quinn 77th. The junior varsity team finished in 9th place in their race.
Despite what the team scores might say more than half of the Eagles set either season or career personal bests at the meet at Oxbow Park.
Adams will compete again next Saturday in the New Prairie Invitational, one of the largest and oldest meets in the state.
