While it might have been a night to honor the Senior Class at TCU School Field on Friday night, it was all Junior Quarterback Ira Armstead on the field. Armstead was responsible for all 4 Adams touchdowns for the nights, leading the Eagles to a 28-14 win over in town rivals SB Washington.
Both teams were scoreless through the first quarter, but it was a fumble recovery by Jonathan Thomas Jr late in the first that would set up a drive through the rest of the quarter and into the second that would lead to an Adams touchdown. With carries and passes by Jaydin Miller, Benjamin Foster Jr, Tre Grey, Miguel Zyniewicz, and finally as the second quarter got under way, Armstead walked easily into the end zone. In the following point after attempt Kayla Ott became the 2nd girl in Adams history to score for the football team, just weeks after teammate Amanda Abner became the first. Ott would add 2 more points throughout the night.
Adams scored again in the second with gains by Armstead, Zyniewicz, Miller, and Jalin Grey with Armstead scoring on a 10 yard keeper.
With Washington getting the ball first at the start of the second half Jain Grey came up big for Adams with an interception and a run to the Washington 3 yard line. This interception would set up another scoring run by Armstead who would eventually score on a 1 yard keeper.
The final scoring drive for Adams came later in the third quarter when Jalin Grey, Zyniewicz, Kyle Hooks, and Armstead put together a drive with Armstead scoring on a 9 yard run.
The Eagles defense came up big throughout the night holding Washington to just two scoring drives. In the second half Adams had big defensive stops by Jonathan Thomas Jr, Jackson Joyce, and Claude Neeley.
Adams will face SB St Joseph next week in the regular season finale.
