The conditions were perfect for a cross country race on Saturday morning at the Elkhart Cross Country Regional at Oxbow Park. While most would say it was too cold, the Adams girls came out ready to perform and run the best races of the season. Five individuals qualified for the IHSAA Regional Meet from last weeks South Bend Sectional. Because the girls advanced as individuals they were unable to score as a team and advance as a team.
The top 10 individuals who do not advance as one of the top 5 finishing teams advance to the Semi State next week. Two girls from Adams will be advancing to the Semi State next week. Both Maddie Mischak and Ivie Skube will qualify.
Mischak finished in 12th place at the Regional in a new personal best of 20:01. Skube ran a new personal best as well of 20:54.
Mischak and Skube were not the only ones to PR at the Regional. Mary Clare Elliot took a minute off her best performance of the year, bringing it down to 22:32. Elliot finished in 73rd place.
Seniors Kate OBrien and Grace Dawson also ran for the Eagles. OBrien finished in 50th place with a time of 21:41. Dawson ran 24:43 which was good for 87th place.
Both Mischak and Skube will run in the New Haven Semi State next week at the Purdue Fort Wayne Campus.
