Friday night finished off a busy week for the Adams girls basketball team, playing their third game in four days. The Lady Eagles traveled to Bremen to take on the Lions in Northern Indiana Conference play. Adams was looking to capitalize off of the momentum they had left over from Thursday night when they earned their first win of the season over Wawasee but the Lions offense was just a little too much for Adams, causing the Eagles to lose 56-31.
Loryn Higginbotham was the leading scorer for Adams, ending the night with 9 points. Whitney Marshall added 6 more points, including the Eagles only three point bucket of the night. Both Marissa Shelton and Laila Williams added 4 points. All four of Shelton’s points were from the free throw line where she shot 100% from the line. McKenna Leichty, Makiah McCain, and Shania Chatman scored 2 points each and Madylin Bauer and Maria Besario scored 1 point each.
The team has a record for the year of 1-6 and 0 – 5 in the NIC.
The Junior Varsity team did start the night off on a positive note, defeating Bremen 54 – 27, taking their record to 2-5. The leading scorer for the Eagles and for the game was Mayah Allen who scored 22 points. Allen shot 9 field goals, 1 three, and was 1 for 4 from the free throw line.
Both teams will compete again on Tuesday night at home in a boy/girl double header against Elkhart Central. Varsity tip off is scheduled for 6:00 PM and JV is scheduled to tip off following the conclusion of the game.
