Northern Indiana Conference play began for the boys basketball team on Tuesday evening with a big victory over Elkhart Central. The Eagles came out of the gates hot, taking the lead and holding it throughout the game, taking the team to victory, defeating the Blue Blazers 71 – 48.
Five Adams players scored in double digits in what was truly a team effort. Both Lynn King and Sydney Jefferies scored 13 points. King was 2 for 2 from the free throw line and scored three 3 points shots for the team. Kyrin McClatchey also scored three 3 points shots, ending the game with 11 points. Shak Johnson scored 12 points and Ben Foster scored 11 points, shooting 3 for 4 on his free throws. Chuck Worsham finished the night with 6 points, Matt Anella with 3, and TeVaughn Columbus with 2 points.
Adams took the lead early and never looked back on Elkhart Central, being comfortably in control of the game. The early challenges that the team had in 2 of the first 3 games payed off for the team on Tuesday night, putting the valuable experience in to practice against the Blue Blazers.
Adams is now 2-2 this season and open up the NIC 1-0.
The Eagles play again on Friday night at Mishawaka Marian High School when the continue NIC play against the Knights.
