The rivalry between the South Bend schools are always some of the most exciting of the season on the basketball court. Thursday night was no exception as the Eagles traveled to take on the Panthers of SB Washington in Northern Indiana Conference action.
The game was close throughout the night, with Adams leading by 4 at half. The second half was an exciting 16 minutes of basketball, with the two teams battling it out for the win. Coming down to the end of the game, the Eagles were able to hold off the Panthers with a final score of 61-60.
The leading scorer for Adams was Shak Johnson, who scored 23 points against the Panthers. Sydney Jefferies added an additional 12 points and Chuck Worsham 12 points for Adams. Quentez Columbus had 9 points, Lynn King had 4 points, and Ben Foster scored 2 points.
The win came at a key time for the Eagles as they had been in a slump through the winter break but now the team plans to take the momentum throughout the rest of the regular season and into the tournament. Adams is now 6-9 for the year and 4-2 in the NIC.
Adams plays again on Tuesday January 22 when they host Jimtown High School.
