Four wrestlers from John Adams competed today at the IHSAA Regional hosted at Penn High School. The top four wrestlers in each weight class advance to the Semi State.
Dominique Clark competed in the 152 weight class and Camden Hanks wrestled in the 170 weight class. Both Clark and Hanks lost in their opening matches in the quarterfinals and were eliminated from the tournament. Clark lost in a close match by decision with a score of 8-7. Hanks lost by fall in the first period.
Advancing to the Semi State at East Chicago will be Jonatan Thomas Jr. and Joe Phillips.
Thomas won all three of this matches by pinning his opponents. In the championships match, Thomas faced off for the fourth time this season against Adam Berta from Penn High School. For the fourth time this year, Thomas defeated Berta, winning the Regional Championship at 220 pounds. Thomas improves his season record to 32-2 with the championship at the Regional
Joe Phillips will advance in the 285 pound weight class after finishing in fourth place. Phillips won with opening match in the quarterfinals but lost in the semi finals, putting him in the third place match were he again lost.
With the four wrestlers, John Adams finished in 8th place as a team with 32 points.
