The regular season came to an end for the boys basketball team on Friday evening as the team hosted New Prairie on Senior Night.
Prior to tip, John Adams High School recognized the work and dedication of the senior basketball players, cheerleaders, and pep band members. Players Ben Foster and Shak Johnson and Cheerleaders Ariana Bordogna Jurkowitz, Jada Marshall, Alayzia Maxwell, Kaylin Ward, and Adiyah Williams were honored with their families on the court.
Once the festivities game to an end, it was time for the Eagles to try and end the regular season with a .500 record and 8-4 in the Northern Indiana Conference. Once the game began, both teams were determined to end the season on a positive note. The Cougars held the lead at the end of the first quarter but the Eagles would not let that last for long. Heading in to the half the Eagles had a 3 point lead. The Eagles came out of the locker room with determination in the second half, outscoring New Prairie 22-13. In the end, the Eagles ended the regular season with the 62-50 win.
The seniors, Ben Foster and Shak Johnson led the team in the final game on their home court. Foster had 15 points including two 3 point baskets and Johnson had 13 points and was 3 for 4 from the free throw line.
Sydney Jefferies had 10 points, Lynn King and Quentez Columbus each had 8 points each, and Chuck Worsham had 7 points.
The Eagles end the regular season with a record of 12-12 and finished 8-4 in the NIC. Adams will play on Tuesday night in the opening game of the IHSAA Sectional at Penn High School, taking on Mishawaka at 6:00 PM.
