March began on a good note for the Adams Eagles Boys Basketball team on Friday night as the team took on the SB Clay Colonials. Playing in the IHSAA Sectional at Penn High School, the Eagles were able to secure the 67 – 49 victory in the semi finals, advancing to the Sectional Championship game on Saturday night.
It was a team effort for the Eagles as they took on the Colonials for the second time this season. Three Adams players were in double digits as the team turned up the action in the second half. Keeping the lead throughout the game, Adams went into half with a 6 point lead, eventually taking it to 18 by the end of the game.
Shak Johnson scored 16 points for the Eagles, finishing as the leading scorer in the game. Johnson was 4 for 8 from the free throw line. Quentez Columbus, coming off the hot effort in the opening game against Mishawaka on Tuesday night ended the evening with 13 points. Columbus was also perfect from the free throw line, shooting 3 for 3. Sydney Jefferies scored 12 points, scoring the lone Eagles 3 point basket of the game and making 3 of 5 free throws.
TeVaughn Columbus scored 9 points, Lynn King scored 6, Chuck Worsham scored 4, Bryce Martens, Sydney Kyrin McClatchey, and Jessie Morgan each scored 2 points, and Ben Foster scored 1 point.
Adams will play in the IHSAA Sectional Championship Game tomorrow night at Penn High School. The Eagles will tip off against the Penn Kingsmen at 7:30 PM.
