Girls Varsity Track · Girls Track and Field Looks to Improve Performances at IWU Qualifier


It was the second week of qualifying for the Hoosier State and the John Adams Girls Track team competed at the Indiana Wesleyan University Qualifier. Attempting to improve their times and move up on the stage wide performance lists, the young Eagles performed well against some top schools in the northern part of the state.

The team is looking to have individuals and relays in the top 24 in relays, individual track events, and the long jump and shot put and top 18 in the pole vault and high jump to compete at the Hoosier State Relays Finals in two weeks at Indiana University.

Improving her performance from last week was Alecia Parker in the shot put. Parker threw and inch further on Saturday with a toss of 38’9.” Going in to Saturday evening Parker was ranked in the top 10 in the large school division. Also throwing in the shot put was Heather Bowling who threw 25’11.25”

Other individuals competing for the Eagles were in the 60 Meter Dash. Shanell Exum ran her race in 8.60, Rayna Brooks in 8.81, and Brianna Craig in 8.83.

The girls also competed in two sprint relays, the 4×200 and 4×400. Brianna Woods, Devyn Moore, Brooks, and Exum ran the 4×200 in a time of 1:56.85.

Woods came back in the 4×400 along with Jordan Mihut, Ali Mihut, and Shania Chatman finished in 4:28.86.

Today’s meet was once again an unscored meet as individuals and relays try to qualify for the finals in two weeks.
