On another perfect early spring evening, the Adams Softball team hosted Elkhart Memorial on Wednesday night at Potawatomi Park. It was a great night to enjoy a game and turned out to be a great night for the Eagles on the field as well.
The Eagles took with win over the Chargers, 6-3, earning their first win of the season.
Regan Sheipline scored first for Adams in the 3rd inning. Sheipline stole two bases throughout the inning, allowing the scoring run.
It was a big 4th inning for the team as well. At the plate Gabby Kovac hit a ground ball, reaching the base on an error, allowing for Hailie Charmat to score. Later in the inning, Haleigh Smith doubled, brining in both Kovac and Kacey Browning with scoring runs.
Lexi Davis doubled to open up the 5th inning. It was Jenna Trimberger though who stole the show for the Eagles, hitting a 2 run home run to clinch the victory for Adams.
Lexie Davis, Olivia VanHeesbeke, and Haleigh Smith each had a double, Gabby Kovac had a triple play and Jenna Trimberger hit a home run. Smith and Trimberger also both had 2 RBIs each. Regan Sheipline had 2 stolen bases and Sadie Sheipplin stole 1.
Adams finished the game with 9 hits, 6 runs, and 3 errors.
Mary Landis was the winning pitcher, going for 5 complete innings allowing 3 hits, 0 runs, and striking out 11.
The team enjoys a break from action over Spring Break before they return to action on Saturday April 6 when the play at the Pendleton Height Horseshoe Classic.
