The Adams Baseball team earned their first victory of the season on Monday evening when they went on the road to Walkerton to take on the Glenn Falcons. It was a near perfect game for the Eagles as they defeated the Falcons 7-0.
The team took an early lead in the first inning. Jacaar Watkins would start things off with a single, putting the first Eagle on base. Watkins would go on to score with Zac Gray up to bat. Gray would also go on to score after a wild pitch by the Falcons.
The Eagles were hot in the third inning. Gray got things started for the team after he was hit by a pitch. Ben Thompson followed him to the plate, hitting a double. Quintin Ruscio Atkinson would walk, loading the bases for the Eagles. Singles from Broke Notestine, Josh Allen, Carsen Sult, and Bryce Martens allowed the Eagles to take the 6-0 lead.
Adams would score its final run in the 7th inning, when Trevon Fonseca, in for Brock Notestine would score after a sacrifice fly from Watkins.
Evan Kroll was the winning pitcher for Adams, pitching 5 complete innings while striking out four.
Zac Gray and Ben Thompson both hit doubles. It was a team effort for the Eagles in getting runs in. Gray had 3 RBIs, Notestine, Thompson and Martens each had two, and Sult, Atkinson, Watkins, Brendon Foster and Josh Allen each had one.
The Eagles begin Northern Indiana Conference play 1-0 and have an overall record of 1-2 so far this season.
Adams will play again on Wednesday evening when they take on the South Bend St Joseph Indians at home.
