The Girls Tennis team competed in the Jimtown Invitational on Saturday, and were able to come away with two wins out of three matches. In all three matches, it was a total team effort to the Lady Eagles.
Taking on Wabash High School, Adams would go on to win 4-1. All three Adams singles players won their matches. Leena Mariani won 6-0, 6-4; Adiyah Williams won both sets 6-1. 6-1; and Amanda Abner won 6-1, 6-0. Number one doubles for Adams won their match against the Apaches. Kara Kison and Lauren Miller won 6-1, 6-4. The only loss for Adams would be number two doubles of Lia Gosselin and Kyara Soria who fought hard in three sets 6-3, 2-6, 1-0.
Against Jimtown, the Eagles won 4-1 as well. Mariani took the only loss for the Eagles, falling 6-3, 7-5. Williams and Abner both won their singles matches. Williams won 6-1, 6-1 and Abner won 6-1, 6-0. Both doubles teams won for Adams as well. Kison and Miller won 8-7 and Gosselin and Soria earned their first varsity victories, winning 7-5, 6-1.
The Eagles fell to Wawasee however, losing 1-4. The only winner for Adams in the match was Abner at number three singles, winning both sets 6-2, 6-2. Mariani lost both her sets 6-0, 6-0 and Williams lost 6-2, 7-5. At doubles Kison and Miller lost in three sets 7-6, 2-6, 1-0 and Gosselin and Soria lost 6-3, 6-1.
With the wins the Eagles finish their first week of competition 3-4. The team will compete again on Tuesday when they host SB Clay.
