The baseball team walked away from School Field on Wednesday night with a victory over cross town rival SB Riley, downing the Wildcats 6-3.
The Eagles had an impressive first inning to get things started for the team. In the first at bat, Bryce Martens hit a double to start off the night for Adams. After a single from Jacaar Watkins, Martens would go on to score the first run of the game. Watkins and Tyler Rajski would also score in the first, leading Adams to the early 3-0 lead.
Adams had another big inning in the 5th as well. Ben Thompson was hit by a pitch, putting him on base. After advancing to third, Thompson would score after a failed pick off attempt by the Wildcats at first. Quintin Ruscio Atkinson and Tre Fonseca would also score for Adams, taking the Eagles to a 6-0 lead.
Riley attempted a comeback in the 7th, but were unable to get past the strong Adams defense.
Thompson was credited with the win for Adams, pitching 4 innings allowing only 2 hits and allowing no runs or errors.
Adams improves to 3-1 in the Northern Indiana Conference with the win and 4-3 overall. The Eagles play at Tippy Valley on Thursday night in non conference action.
