Monday was the perfect start for the week for the Adams Softball team, traveling to Elkhart Central to take on the Blue Blazers. It was also a perfect night for senior pitcher Mary Landis, who pitched a no hitter, helping lead the Eagles to a 12 – 0 victory.
Landis pitched the entire 5 inning, allowing no hits and no runs while striking out 5 Central batters.
It was a steller first inning for Adams, scoring 10 runs right out of the gate. In the first at bat of the game, Haleigh Smith, who would score 4 runs off of three hits in the game, doubled to start things off for Adams. Lexie Davis would hit a single that would bring in both Smith and Regan Sheipline, taking the Eagles to an early 2-0 lead. Even though she would ground out, Hallie Charmat’s at bat would bring in both Davis and Lexis Lawton to score 2 more runs for the Lady Eagles. Things were really in Adams’ favor when the team had bases loaded twice when both Smith and Sheipline both walked, bringing in runs from Kacey Browning and Paige Varga. With bases still loaded, Davis would double in her second plate appearance of the inning, brining in Sydney Meredith and Smith to score. To finish out the impressive inning, Sheipline and Davis would both go on to score to close out the inning, taking Adams to a 10-0 lead.
Adams would hold on to the lead comfortably throughout the game. Smith would go on to score again both in the third and fifth innings, leading Adams to the 12 – 0 Northern Indiana Conference victory.
The Junior Varsity team also won big over Elkhart Central, winning 19-8. Emily Kidwell, Klaudia Gill, and Jenna Trimberger scored 3 for Adams, Kylie Freymuth, Tania Gonzalez, and BreeAnn Belakovic would score 2 runs each, and Hannah Mills, Lacie Wismiewski, Amanda Granger, and Keiara Gill would score 1 run each.
