The Adams Baseball team started off their game strong on Wednesday evening at Mishawaka Marian, securing the Northern Indiana Conference victory after scoring 6 runs in the first two innings. Adams defeated the Knights 7-3.
Josh Allen and Ben Thompson were both in scoring position, ready to take the early lead in the first. Zach Grey hit a single which drove in both Allen and Thompson, taking ht Eagles up early 2-0.
It would be a big second inning for Adams as well as the Marian bats remained silent. With two Adams runners on, Carsen Sult hit a single brining in Brendon Foster to score. After Jacaar Watkins was walked, the Eagles had the bases loaded. Thompson, who had already hit a double in the first inning, hit yet another double. In the play Quentin Ruscio Atkinson and Sult both scored. Watkins would go on to score himself after a sacrifice fly from Grey, taking the Eagles up 6-0.
Adams would get its final run of the game in the fourth inning. After a double and stealing for third, Watkins scored on a line drive single from Grey.
Ben Thompson, who hit two doubles was also the winning pitcher for Adams as well. From the mound Thompson pitched 6 complete inning allowing 3 hits and 3 runs and struck out 8 Marian batters.
Adams continues to improve in NIC play, maintaining a record of 5-2 in the conference and 7-5 overall for the season.
Adams will head north of the Indiana border on Saturday to play a double header with Niles (MI) High School.
