The sun began to shine and he day ended well for the Adams Softball team on Wednesday evening as the Lady Eagles defeated the Mishawaka Marian Knights 6-2 at home.
Adams would score 4 runs in the first, taking the early lead and never looking back. Regan Sheipline scored the first run for the Eagles after a single from Lexie Davis. Davis would later steal for third and would score a run after a pop fly from Elise Hutts. Adams would have two runners on and Josie Garver doubled on a line drive, brining in Jenna Trimberger and Gabby Kovac to score.
In the fifth inning Haleigh Smith would score for Adams, and after a single from Trimberger, Sheipline would go to score again, making the final run for Adams in the game and securing the victory.
Mary Landis was the winning pitcher for the Lady Eagles, pitching 7 complete innings. Landis allowed 2 runs off of 3 hits and struck out 10 batters.
The Eagles are 6-6 overall for the season and have impressive 5-2 record in the Northern Indiana Conference so far.
Adams will compete this weekend in the LaPorte Classic Hookem-Zookem Softball Tournament at LaPorte High School. Adams will play its first game of the tournament at 7:00 CST(8:00 EST) against LaPorte.
