The weather was almost perfect in the afternoon on Saturday as the Adams baseball team hosted Illiana Christian in a double header.
In the first game Adams would defeat Illiana Christian and take the win with a score of 4-3.
After allowing a run to start the game off, Adams would come back to take the lead in the first. Jacaar Watkins would score a run after a double from Ben Thompson. Thompson would go on to score himself on a wild pitch while Zach Gray was at bat.
In the fourth, Adams would get bases loaded. Quintin Ruscio Atkinson would score on a passed ball when Carsen Sult was at bat. Sult would hit a line drive into a fields choice later in the at bat allowing Kendall Sanders to score as well. It was enough for Adams to hold on to the lead and secure the victory.
Josh Allen pitched a complete game for the Eagles allowing 3 runs off of 8 hits and striking out 2.
In the second game of the day the Eagles were unable to get the bats going like they did earlier in the day. Adams would fall to Illiana Christian 1-2.
Adams would go off to an early lead in the first inning. Thompson in his first at bat of the game hit a double. Thompson would go on to score from second after a single from Ray Calhoun, putting Adams on the board. It was not enough however as the team would go on to give up runs in the loss.
Tyler Rajski was recorded as the losing pitcher in the second game. Rajski pitched for 3 innings allowing 1 run off of 3 hits and striking out 3 batters.
After the split, Adams holds a record of 8-7 for the season. Adams will play again on Monday night in Northern Indiana Conference play at South Bend Washington High School.
