The local softball fields dried out on Friday night after a week filled with rain. The Adams Softball team hosted the Penn Lady Kingsmen in Northern Indiana Conference action.
It was a tough night for Adams as the Eagles lost to Pen with a score of 1-7.
Adams got their only run in the bottom of the 7th inning. Mary Landis was able to record a single, reaching base. Elise Hutts hit a ground ball and reaches base after an error from the third baseman, allowing Sadie Shiepline, who was in to run for Landis, to score the lone Adams run of the evening.
Landis was unfortunately the losing pitcher for the evening, pitching for 5 innings allowing 3 hits, only 1 run, and striking out five Penn batters.
The junior varsity team, playing following the varsity game also lost to Penn as well with a score of 16-6. Adams had runs scored by Aniyah Daniels, Hailey Charmat, Kacey Browning, Klaudia Gill, Lexis Lawton, and Hannah Mills.
Adams falls to 5-3 in the NIC and 6-8 overall.
The Eagles will play again at home on Monday night as they host SB Washington and honor the seniors on senior night.
