It was a blow out win for the Adams Softball team on Monday night as the Lady Eagles crushed SB Washington 27-0 on Senior Night. Prior to the first pitch of the game, Adams honored its seniors Lexie Davis, Josie Garver, Mary Landis, Sydnee Meredith, Regan Sheipline, and Paige Varga.
The first inning was the low scoring inning for Adams, scoring only 2 runs. Haleigh Smith got things rolling for Adams, scoring after walking and stealing for second and third. Davis would also score for Adams as well.
It was the second inning where Adams was hot and capitalized off of Washington errors. Adams had two on, and Garver would score after a single from Meredith. Meredith and Olivia VanHeesbeke were both on base for Adams when Smith hit a home run out to center field, taking Adams up 6-0.Davis would score again, stealing for home. With two outs in the inning, Adams was not done yet. Varga would hit a double, brining in in Elise Hutts. Varga would score after a single from Garver, and Garver would score herself on a passed ball. Adams then got bases loaded and in a series of plays VanHeesbeke, Meredith, Smith, and Sheipline all score for Adams, taking the lead now to 14-0.
The Lady Eagles would score eight more runs in the third. Adams had bases loaded yet again where Varga would score off of a single from Meredith. Garver scored off of a single from Smith, and VanHeesbeke and Meredith would also come in to score as well. A double from Davis would allow Smith and Sheipline to score. Late in the inning, Landis would hit a single, which Davis and Hutts would both score on.
In the Eagles’ last inning at bat, they would score 5 more final runs, almost one after another. Garver, Hannah Mills, Meredith, Smith and Sheipline would all score in succession for Adams, scoring the final runs of the game.
It was an impressive game for Adams with a home run from Smith, Doubles from Davis, Garver, and Varga, and four RBI’s each from Davis, Sheipline, and Smith, three each from Meredith, two from each Varga and Landis, and one each from Garver, Hutts, and BreAnn Belakovich.
Mary Ladis got the win for Adams, pitching all 5 innings for Adams allowing no runs, only one hit late in the game, and striking out 10.
Adams goes to 6-3 in Northern Indiana Conference play and 7-8 overall for the season. The Lady Eagles will travel to Jimtown on Tuesday.
