Girls Varsity Softball · Softball Wins Two in Double Header at Griffith

It was a big day for the Adams Eagles Softball team on Saturday, traveling to Griffith to play a double header against the Panthers.

Adams would come home on Saturday evening with two big road wins.

In the first game, it was not until the final innings until the Eagles would get a score on the board. It was in the fifth inning when the bats got hot for Adams. Sadie Sheipline hit a double to start things off. Sheipline would score the first Eagles run of the day after a double from Haleigh Smith. Soon, Adams would get bases loaded for the first of many times of the day. Elise Hutts hit a single brining in Regan Sheipline to score. In the next at bat, Smith would steal home for Adams to score. Kacey Browning would single allowing Lexi Davis to score and Browning herself would score after a pop fly from Gabby Kovac. The last run of the inning for the Eagles would come again after Adams had the bases loaded again. Hallie Charmat would score after R Sheipline was walked.

In the seventh Adams would score four more runs. Adams once again got bases loaded. With Paige Varga being walked, Davis would score. Adams still had the bases loaded with 2 outs when S Sheipline doubled on a hard ground ball allowing Jenna Trimberger and Varga to run in and score. The last run of the first game would come from Kovac on a ground ball from R Sheipline.

Adams won the first game of the afternoon 10-4.

Mary Landis took the win, pitching a complete game allowing 4 runs off of 6 hits and striking out 8 batters,

After the break in the second game, Browning would hit a triple in the very first at bat of the game and later Davis would hit a double, but Adams would not get any runs out of either play. It was later in the third inning when the Eagles finally got on the board. Adams would get a run from S Sheipline after a ground ball double from Smith.

Adams again had bases loaded in the fifth inning, and S Sheipline would score again after a single from Hutts. The Eagles had big plays where R Sheipline would score and Trimberger and Hutts both stole bases. Trimberger would get to score after Browning lines out at the end of the inning.

Griffith would come back to tie the game up in the fifth, but Adams would seal the game in the sixth and seventh.

Adams got bases loaded again all by walks in the sixth. Charmat and Kovac would score before Smith had a big 3 run home run.

The Lady Eagles scored two more in the seventh from Kovac and R Sheipline.

Adams took the second game with a score of 11-5.

Hallie Charmat got the win for Adams, pitching all seven innings allowing 5 runs off of 9 hits but struck out 11 batters.
