The Adams Baseball team was victorious on Monday night in their final game of the regular season before the IHSAA Tournament begins on Wednesday. The Eagles traveled to Washington Township in Valparaiso and defeated the Senators 12-3.
Adams was consistent throughout the game, striking early to seal the game.
In the first with two on, Ben Thompson hit a single to bat in Jacaar Watkins and Zach Gray would score off the throw. Thompson would go on to score later in the inning as well, taking the Eagles to the early 3-0 lead.
In the second, both Watkins and Gray would score again, this time batted in by a Brock Notestine double. In the very next play, Brendan Foster, in for Notestine would score.
Watkins hit a triple in the third inning to drive in Josh Allen. On the next play, Watkins scored on a double hit by Gray.
Gray would have a big play in the fifth inning. After being walked, Gray would advance to second on a passed ball and then would score on a single from Thompson. Thompson would also get a run to end the inning.
Tre Fonseca scored after another single from Grey in the sixth.
In the seventh, Bryce Martens would steal for second and then advance to third on a wild pitch, putting him in scoring position. He would score after a sacrifice fly from Allen.
Nate Bolin was awarded the win from the mound after pitching 2 innings for Adams. Bolin allowed no run and no hits and struck out one batter.
The Eagles finish the regular season 13-9 and begin the IHSAA 4A Sectional Tournament on Thursday night against SB Clay at Plymouth High School at 6:00 PM
