The 92nd South Bend Women’s Metro Open was played last week across the South Bend area, with competitors looking to take the title as the best women’s golfer in the South Bend area.
The two day Junior Division was played at South Bend Country Club on July 9 and Morris Park Country Club on July 11 in conjunction with the final two days of the Championship flights on the Women’s Metro.
Two John Adams Girls Golfers competed in the Junior Girls Division for 13 – 17 year old competitors.
Selah Unwin, who will be a sophomore this fall finished in 3rd place with a two day combined score of 191. Unwin shot 100 at South Bend on the first day of play and improved her score for a 91 in the final round at Morris Park.
Miranda Brewer, a junior this upcoming school year, finished just behind her Adams teammate in 4th place. Brewer had a two day score of 209. Brewer opened up with a score of 109 at South Bend and improved her final round score at Morris Park, ending with 100.
Last year, Unwin was named the teams most improved player for her work throughout the fall season and Brewer was awarded the teams sportsmanship award for her positive attitude both on and off the course.
Both Unwin and Brewer look to take the momentum after the impressive finishes into the upcoming IHSAA season which begins in just a few short weeks.
Congratulations Selah and Miranda on your performances!
