With a summer of training under their belts, the Adams boys cross country team was eager to hit the starting line in their first meet of the season on Saturday at the NIC Stomp at Oxbow Park. The boys were eager to show off the hard work from the year and ready to put on a show.
The NIC Stomp is a different race than most, with runner running in races determined by grade levels.
It was the Junior and Senior boys who made a name for themselves, finishing 4th overall in their race, and second among NIC Schools. Adams had a team score of 104.
Two Eagle runners were among the top finishers in the race. Will Neubauer finish 4th overall with a time of 16:52. Sami Mirza ran an impressive race of his own to finish 8th in 17:14.
The remaining upperclassmen boys ran good races of their own as well. Ngor Agwick finished in 18:04, Alex Marcharaschwili just behind him in 18:06, Colby Szymczak in 19:00, Jack Rancourt in 20:13, and Brendan Quinn in 20:20.
The Freshman and Sophomore boys also ran an impressive race as well. As a team the Eagles finished in 9th with a score of 255.
Cole Evans was the first finisher for Adams, finishing 53rd overall in 20:55. He was joined by teammates Grayson Wilson (20:30), Sam Mischak (20:47), Dylan Hockx (20:51), Tejohn Halloway (24:41), Ethan Schelstraete (24:51), and Jacob Clark (28:47).
Adams looks to take this momentum from the first meet with them throughout the rest of the season.
The Eagles will race again next Saturday at the Penn Invitational at Elm Road School.
