Saturday was a perfect morning to race for the Adams Girls Cross Country team. Running on the flat course at the Caston Invitational, the Lady Eagles looked to improve their times and performances and move in a positive direction for the remainder of the season.
All of those conditions worked out for Adams, which won the meet with a score of 59.
The top finishers for Adams were Maddie Mischak and Ivie Skube. Mischak and Skube raced well together, pushing each other along the way. Mischak finished in 3rd in a time of 21:05 and Skube in 4th in 21:11.
Rounding out the top 15 was Addison Skube who set a personal best in 22:57.
Delaney Packard ran 23:23, Claire Stowe 23:26, Kimberly Plata 23:40, and Hannah Connell in 23:47.
The tight pack of runners helped fend off the other teams in the meet.
The Junior Varsity team finished in second place as a team with a score of 45. Betsy Leija Castaneda was the top finisher for Adams, finishing in fourth place.
Adams will race again next Saturday in the Elkhart – St Joseph County Clash at Oxbow Park.
