Tuesday was the clash of the top teams in South Bend as the Boys Tennis team hosted SB St Joseph. The two teams played in a Northern Indiana Conference matchup. It was St Joseph who came out victorious, defeating the Eagles 5-0.
Adams did not give up easily though, with several of the matches battling it out for every point in the set.
Number 1 singles Ben Guerrero lost his match 6-2, 6-0. Marty Stoner lost 6-1, 6-0. Michael Dunham, playing Number 3 Singles fought hard, losing in a close matchup in two sets 6-4, 6-4.
Number 1 Doubles Peter Nagy and Vian Mariani forced the match to go into three sets. Nagy and Mariani won the first set 7-6 and narrowly lost in the second set 4-6. In the third set, the pair fell 6-1.
Number 2 Doubles Jonathan Zapf and Jacob Lutz lost 6-2, 6-0.
Adams maintains a record of 5-2 overall in head to head matchups and 4-2 in the NIC.
The Junior Varsity team won their matches with a score of 8-6. Michaell Mazurek won 2 matches at singles and playing doubles the pairs of Forest Wallace/ Duncan Thompson, Jonah Gezelter/ Sam Troxel, Teo Reimbold-Thomas/ Duncan Thompson, Drew Piechocki/ Nick Cox, Sam Berbitsky/ Auggie Perugini, and Owen Koehller/ Casey Zilke won for Adams.
The Eagles will play again on Wednesday, traveling to Mishawaka Marian.
