It was a day of celebration for the Adams Girls Soccer team on Thursday. The team celebrated Senior Night for Ema Amstutz and Logan Hansen and sent the senior out in style with a 4-2 victory over Northern Indiana Conference opponent John Glenn.
The Lady Eagles came together to make the necessary adjustments during play to secure the win and take the team back over .500
In the 21st minute, Nyah Smith found the back of the net for the Eagles. Smith was able to score with the assist from Veronica Karban.
Just after the start of the second half, Glenn tied the game up 1-1. The game was not tied for long though as Adams put the pressure on the Falcons and never looked back.Anna Rosato scored for Adams in the 52nd minute to take the lead back. Carala Hernandez had the assist for the Rosato goal. A few minutes later Anna Borkowski scored another goal for Adams, extending the Lady Eagles’ lead.
Adams was able to get one more late in the game in the 66th minute when Emilie Vereb scored with an assist from Rosato.
In total, Adams had 10 shots on goal and goalkeepers Logan Hansell and Makiah McCain combined for a total of 6 saves.
Adams stays at 2-1 in the NIC North Division and improves to an overall record of 5-4-2.
The Eagles will play again on Saturday against SB Riley at Jackson Field in a rescheduled match up from earlier in the season.
