Adams Boys Tennis competed in the LaPorte Invitational on Saturday morning, and after finishing 1-1, came back home as the tournament runner ups.
In the first match of the day, the Eagles took on the Goshen Redhawks. Adams swept Goshen 5-0, but not without the Redhawks putting up a fight.
Ben Guerrero won at Number 1 Singles 6-4, 6-2. Marty Stoner had to take it to three sets to earn the win at Number 2 Singles. Stoner lost the opening set 2-6 but came back to win the next two 6-1, 1-0. Michael Dunham won 6-3, 6-3 playing Number 3 Singles.
Number 1 Doubles Peter Nagy and Vian Mariani won 6-2 and survived in the second set 7-5. Number 2 Doubles Jacob Lutz and Michael Marzurek also had to take it to three sets to win as well. Lutz and Mazurek narrowly lost 5-7 in the opening set and came back to complete the sweep for the Eagles 6-2, 1-0.
Adams then took on host LaPorte in the championship match.
Guerrero and Stoner were able to win their matches against the Slicers. Guerrero had to survive three sets to win 7-5, 0-6, 1-0. Stoner won 6-4, 7-5.
Michael Dunham and Peter Nagy/ Vian Mariani and Jacob Lutz/Michael Mazurek lost in close sets to the highly competitive Slicers.
Dunham lost 7-6, 6-2, Nagy/Mariani 1-6, 3-6, and Lutz/Mazurek 4-6, 2-6.
Adams will play again on Monday when the Eagles host SB Washington.
