The air was crisp, the sun was shining, and it was a perfect day for a cross country race. The Adams Boys Cross Country team competed on Saturday in the Northern Indiana Conference Championship Meet at Oxbow Park. The meet determines the final standings for Cross Country in the NIC as well as All Conference Honors.
The Eagles finished a respectable 5th place in the NIC with a team score of 133.
Adams also had two runners finish All Conference. Will Neubauer earned First Team All Conference with his race performance. Neubauer finished the race in 5th place, crossing the line in an impressive time of 16:35. Sami Mirza ran the race in 16:59, which earned him a 13th place finish and being recognized as Second Team All Conference.
Neubauer and Mirza were joined in the race by Ngor Agwick who ran 17:42, Alex Macharascwili ran 18:25, Jack Rancourt ran 18:21, Brendan Quinn ran 18:55, and Colby Szymczak ran 19:01.
The Junior Varsity race was a combined race between the NIC and the Northern Lake Conference who run their championship race on the same day. The Eagles finished 12th overall in the combined race with a score of 367. Sam Villagra Stanton was the first runner for Adams to finish in the race with a time of 19:06, good for 70th place overall. Scoring for Adams in the race were Dylan Hockx (19:14), Grayson Wilson (19:38), George Ruscio Atkinson (19:42), Cole Evans (19:51), Sam Mischak (19:57), and Josh Evans (20:39). Six additional Eagle runners were in the race as well but did not count toward team scoring including Tejohn halloway (20:50), Dylan Whitlow (21:17), Ethan Schelstraete (23:21), Omar Santa Maria (24:04), Jacob Clark (24:24), and Alex Drain (24:25).
The Eagles will begin the IHSAA State Tournament next week in the Sectional Meet at Erskine Park Golf Course on Saturday
