All high school sporting events are special in their own right, but Friday night at TCU School Field was an extra special event not just for the Adams Football team but for the entire community as well. The Eagles hosted the Elkhart Central Blazers on Military Appreciation Night, honoring the nation’s veterans, active duty personnel, and local first responders. The event, sponsored by the Indiana National Guard also also featured the Eagles wearing special uniforms to commemorate the event.
With all the hype and pageantry off the field, it turned out to be a difficult evening for the team on the field. The Adams offense and defense struggled to find their own against the Number 8 ranked Blazers.
There was a glimmer of hope however in the middle of the second quarter. Already down 21-0, Quarterback Ira Armtead had an impressive run, breaking through the Elkhart defense to run for nearly 70 yards to score but the play was called back due to a penalty on the Eagles.
Adams would get shut out in the game, losing to Elkhart Central with a final score of 40-0.
Adams will play again next week against SB Washington at TCU School Field, this time as the visiting team.
