Boys Varsity Football · Football Suffers Loss in Homecoming Game

Homecoming for John Adams High School arrived at the end of September and was washed out as a result of early fall storms that wreaked havoc on the area. Nearly every local football game for Friday September 27 was postponed, including the matchup between the Eagles and the Number 1 ranked New Prairie Cougars.

Saturday was much nicer and cooler, a perfect evening for a football game. The Eagles were able to get on the board early in the game. Behind 7-0, Quarterback Ira Armstead found one of his favorite targets, Sydney Jefferies. Armstead threw a near perfect 30 yard pass to Jeffereis, waiting in the end zone to tie the game up. Adams began to struggle as the game began to go on, trailing 35-7 before they were able to score again late in the third quarter. Armstead found Jefferies again on the play, this time with a 37 yard pass.

It was not enough for Adams however, the Eagles were unable to hold off the highly ranked offense or get through the defense of the Cougars, losing the game 55-14.
