The weather and conditions were absolutely perfect for a postseason game for the Boys Soccer team on Wednesday night. The Eagles opened up play in the IHSAA Sectional at TCU School Field, taking on the LaPorte Slicers in the semi finals of the Sectional.
Despite the possession domination, and creating great chances to score, Adams trailed at the half 0-1 to Laporte. At the intermission, however, the Eagles were not down on themselves and came out in the second half ready to take back the lead and put the game away.
After half, Adams executed to perfection the game plan, doubled up on the pressure, and scored three unanswered goals.
Connor McKenna put Adams on the scoreboard in the 48th minute with a nicely placed ball, coming from a sharp assist by Micah Fourman. Not much later, Micah Fourman broke the net with a point-blank volley off of a gorgeous, driven corner taken by Roberto Moreira (assist). In the last minute of the match Roberto Moreira sent a direct-kick rocket from about 30 yards out that zoomed past the keeper directly into the goal.
Adams outshot the Slicers 27 – 15, with 12 shots on goal versus 8 shots on goal, respectively. Adams also lead in the corners category 8 vs. 2.
With the 3-1 victory, the Eagles will advance to the Sectional Championship game on Saturday afternoon at TCU School Field in South Bend. Adams will face off against the Plymouth Rockies at 2:00 PM.
