In October, it’s win or go home in the IHSAA Tournament. For the Adams Girls Soccer team on Thursday night, the Lady Eagles were not ready to end their season, and showed it on the pitch, shutting out the Mishawaka Cavemen, winning 4-0.
Adams took on Mishawaka in the Sectional Semifinal at Jackson Field.
Adams showed that they meant business early. With not even a minute of play run off the clock, Anna Borkowski found and opportunity to score, scoring a goal in the first 45 seconds. Nyah Smith had the assist.
Adams would not look back or let Mishawaka back into the game. Smith scored a goal in the 22nd minute of play from an assist from Leia Lawill. It would not take Lawill long to score herself, scoring in the 27th minute.
In the second half, Borkowski would score again in the 60th minute of action. This time Anna Rosatto would get the assist.
The Eagles cruised through the next 20 minutes of play to enjoy the victory.
The Adams offense was hot against the Cavemen, having a total of 26 shots on goal. The defense only allowed 6 shots on the Eagles goal, with all 6 being saved by Goalkeeper Makiah McCain.
With the victory, Adams will advance to the Sectional Championship game on Saturday night. Adams will face off against SB St Joseph at 7:00 PM at Jackson Field.
