It was the final test of the year for the Adams Volleyball team on the road on Thursday night before the start of the IHSAA Tournament next week. The Eagles traveled to Michigan City to take on Marquette Catholic HS.
It was Adams who walked off the court victorious, defeating Marquette in four sets 3-1.
Adams was narrowly beat out in the first set, losing 23-25, but the Eagles would not be deterred and fall behind for long. Adams came back and won the second set 26-24, won the third set 25-18, and fought hard in the fourth set for the win, ending the night 28-26.
In the win, Amya Shuppert and Seci Scheffler both finished with 4 blocks each. Abby Holmes had 3 aces against Marquette. Claire Sheffler had 12 kills and Seci Scheffler and Lauren Miller each had 10 kills each. Miller also had 15 digs, S. Scheffler had 11 digs, C. Scheffler had 15 digs as well. Holmes added another 15 digs and Sydney Lewandowski led the way with 17.
The Junior Varsity team won as well. The Eagles started the night out with winning in two sets 25-11. 25-11.
Adams will begin the IHSAA Tournament next week. The Lady Eagles will take on the LaPorte Slicers in the Sectional to be played at Mishawaka HS on Thursday at 6:00 PM
