It was the start of a brand new season for the Girls Swimming and Diving team on Tuesday night. The Lady Eagles opened up the season by hosting Elkhart Memorial.
Adams defeated the Chargers soundly with a score of 135 – 46.
RIght from the start, Adams began to show off its talent in the pool with a mix of veterans from last years squad and many new talented faces. The Eagles dominated in the pool, winning 10 of 12 events.
In the opening event, the 200 Yard Medley Relay, Adams won with a time of 2:03.49. Lyza Kircheff, Ivie Skube, Sofia Frazee, and Yvette Burton were all members of the winning team. Besides first in the relay Adams also finished 3rd and 4th as well.
Adams went 1-2-3 in the 200 Freestyle. Eamin Lynch was the winner of the event with a time if 2:17.05. Elizabeth Tarner finished second and Olivia Thompson finished third.
Kircheff was the winner of the 200 Individual Medley, swimming 2:32.41. Finishing second in the event was Melany Morales-Garibay.
The Lady Eagles also finished 1-2-3 in the 50 Free as well. Burton took first with a time of 27.95 followed by Frazee and Sade Williams.
Burton was also the champion in the 100 Free, just edging out the Memorial swimmer by 6 tenths of a second, winning in 1:03.33.
The 500 Free was also dominated by Adams, once again finishing 1-2-3. Elisa Nernberg was the winner in 6:26.07. Thompson finished in second and Rabija Begic in third..
Sofia Frazee and Cecilia Frazee finished first and second in the 100 Breaststroke, with Sofia winning in 1:12.79.
Adams finished first and second in the 200 Freestyle Relay. Eamin Lynch, Tania Gonzalez, C Frazee, and S Frazee won in 1:54.77.
In the 400 Free Relay Kircheff, Morales Garibay, Lynch, and Burton won in 4:14.25, winning by nearly a pool length.
The Adams divers also impressed in their competition. The divers competed the day before. Lindsay Gizzi won easily with a score of 264.90. Katie Hensell finished in second and Avery Curtis in third.
Adams only lost two events, but in each other finished in second place. Kircheff was the runner up in the 100 Fly and Lynch was the runner up in the 100 Backstroke.
Adams starts the season off 1-0. The Lady Eagles will compete again on Thursday night when they travel to SB Washington to begin Northern Indiana Conference action.
