Girls Varsity Swimming · Girls Swimming and Diving Defeats SB Washington


Thursday could be described as nothing but a rout for the Girls Swimming and Diving team. In the team’s first road trip of the season which was also the first Northern Indiana Conference meet of the season, the Lady Eagles blew out SB Washington 140 – 20.

Adams won all 12 events contested in the pool and in seven of those events, finished 1-2-3. It was an excellent opportunity early in the season for the team, with a lot of young talent, to achieve some success in the highly competitive NIC.

Elisa Nerenberg won the first individual event of the evening, the 200 Freestyle. Nerenberg took the victory in a time of 2:23.44. Finishing second was Tania Gonzalez in 2:27.02.

Skye Peck was the champion in the 200 Individual Medley, taking the win in 3:05.26. Peck was also the runner up in the 100 Butterfly. Ivie Skube was the winner of the 100 Fly, taking the win with a time of 1:14.16.

Sofia Frazee and Cate Garber finished in first and third in the 50 Free. Frazze won in 27.35 and Garber finished in 33.07.

For the rest of the meet, Adams dominated, finishing in the top spots in the remaining events. 

Lindsay Gizzi won at Diving with a score of 252.10. Katie Hensell took second place with a score of 204.25 and freshman Avery Curtis took third with 140.45.

Addison Skube lead the way in the 100 Free, winning in 1:05.66. Sade Williams finished in second (1:09.82), and Claire Wright in third (1:17.39)

Eamin Lynch, MaryCate Baer, and Rabija Begic finished first, second, and third in the 500 Free. Lynch won in 6:10.15, Baer finished second in 7:01.26, and Begic third with 7:29.45.

The 100 Backstroke was won by Lyza Kircheff in 1:06.32. Melanie Sanchez finished as runner up in 1:44.35 and Brianna Pitchford in third in 1:48.54.

Elizabeth Tarner won the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:23.97. Lzabelle Frank finished second (1:43.94) and Izzy Camilleri in third (1:45.28).

The Lady Eagles also won all three relays as well. Opening the night with a win, Tarner, Cecilia Frazee, Melany Morales-Garibay and Lindsay Collins took first with a time of 2:12.04 in the 200 Medley Relay. Camilleri, Garber, A Skube, and Yvette Burton finished in second.

Kircheff, Annadalay Carranza, Aliyah Armstrong, and Olivia Thompson won the 200 Freestyle Relay. The winning time was 2:23.07. Williams, Tarner, Madeline Garber and ALexis Valencia took second in 2:31.90. Wright, Burton, Jenaya Shelby, and Grace Collins finished third in 2:37.28.

Wrapping up the night Adams finished 1-2-3 in the 400 Free Relay. S Frazee, I Skube, Gonzalez, and Liora Wulfson won in 4:32.52. Baer, Sanchez, Yadira Cavazos, and Kaliyah Cole finished as runner up in 5:03.52, and M Gardner, Nerenberg, Peck, and Isabelle Robicaud took third in 5:50.81.

Adams begins the season 2-0 and start 1-0 in the NIC as well.

The Lady Eagles have a big crosstown matchup on Tuesday when they host SB Riley.
