Thanksgiving break has arrived and the Girls Basketball team had a lot to be thankful for on Tuesday night when the team broke a three game losing streak and earned its first Northern Indiana Conference win of the season. The Lady Eagles rolled past the Mishawaka Cavemen with a score of 48-24.
Despite a very rough start and sloppy first half which found the Eagles in foul trouble early on, Adams was able to finally put away the pesky Cavemen in the fourth quarter. The Lady Eagles got hot, finally being able to get a bucket to sink, extending the lead to nearly 20 points.
Marissa Shelton took the lead for Adams, leading the team with 13 total points in the victory. Loryn Higginbotham scored 11 points and was 5 for 8 from the free throw line. Daquejiha Vaugh and Whitney Marshall each added 7 points each to the total. Marshall was 5 for 6 on free throws and Vaughn hit the lone Eagles three pointer of the game.Laila Williams finished the night with 4 points and Valiyah Grundy and Makiah McCain each had 2 points.
The Lady Eagles are now 2-3 for the season and 1-2 in NIC.
The Junior Varsity team also won against the Lady Cavemen with a score of 38-28.
Adams will get some time to celebrate the victory before it is back to business following the Thanksgiving holiday. The Eagles will play next on Tuesday December 3 in a rivalry game at SB Riley.
