After two games on the road, The Adams Girls Basketball team returned to play at home on Friday night. The Lady Eagles hosted the Lady Lions of Bremen in Northern Indiana Conference play.
The game would be a low scoring game for bother teams, with both the Eagles and Lions playing a game of strategy as neither team could pull away from the other. Despite the low score, the game moments of intensity and excitement.
The game came down to the final minute of play. With the two teams tied up, Bremen hit its free throws to take a three pint lead with just under 10 second remaining in regulation. With a chance to win the game, Adams passed the ball down court, taking the final shot as time expired with a chance to tie the game and take it in to overtime. With no avail, the Lady Eagles missed the shot, and the team fell to Bremen with a score of 26-29.
Laila Williams was the Eagles’ leading scorer in the game, scoring 8 points for the team. Marissa Shelton had 6 points off of two three’s early in the game. Daquejiha Voughn and Loryn Higginbotham each had 5 points each. Higginbotham was 3 for 5 from the free throw line. Whitney Marshall scored 2 points as well.
Adams falls to 2-6 overall for the season and 1-4 in the NIC. Despite the record the Eagles have been in many of the games and losing by only a slim margin. The Lady Eagles will travel to play in a CoEd double header on Tuesday night at Northside Gym to take on Elkhart Central.
