It was the second road game of the week for the Adams Girls Basketball team on Thursday night. After an extremely close conference loss on Tuesday night, The Lady Eagles looked to bounce back against non conference opponent Wawasee.
The two teams were close through the first quarter behind six points from Laila Williams and four from the free throw line by Marissa Shelton. While Wawasee put together a run in the second and built a lead on Adams, the Eagles clawed their way back throughout the third and fourth quarters. The comeback through was not enough for Adams, the team lost by a slim margin of 45-39.
Shelton was once again the leading scorer for the Eagles, ending the night with 14 points, including a strong fourth quarter as the team was working their way back towards the lead. Shelton was also 6 for 8 from the free throw line.
Laila Williams had a strong night as well, scoring 11 points and going 3 for 4 on free throws.
Loryn Higginbotham scored 8 points, McKenna Leichty scored 4 points, and Myah Allen had 2 points.
The Eagles fall to 2-5 on the season with the loss.
