Multiple Teams · Wrestling Finishes 2-3 at Valpo Invite


After a tough loss on Thursday night, the Adams Wrestling team looked to bounce back on Saturday at the Valparaiso Invite. Wrestling five times throughout the day, Adams could shine both as individuals and as a team on the mat. The young team, buying into the program and their training were excited for the chance to do well.

As a team, Adams finished with 2 wins and 3 losses in the invite. The Eagles started the day off with a win over Boon Grove. Adams won the match 54-30. To end the day, Adams also got the team victory over Michigan City, winning 45-24.

Adams lost to Kankakee Valley 45-30, to Hammond Gavit 30-36, and to Valparaiso 66-23.

Three Adams wrestlers finished a perfect 5-0 for the day. Camden Hanks wrestling at 195 pounds, Horace Hill at 220 pounds, and Joe Phillips at 285 pounds were all undefeated. Hill remains undefeated for the entire season and Phillips has only 1 loss this year.

Other Adams wrestlers record include Ashlyn Wiggins (106) 3-2, Andrew Hernandez (113) 3-2, Ryan Downey (138) 3-2, Moamel Mammoud (145) 4-1, Melvin Tores (152) 3-2, Dareian Stineman (160) 1-4, and Chykeem Crawford (185) 4-1.

Adams will host its first home contest of the season on Thursday against SB Clay.
