Friday night was the setting for a classic basketball game that came down to the wire to determine the winner. The Adams Boys Basketball team hosted the Mishawaka Marian Knights in a classic Northern Indiana Conference showdown.
The Eagles, looking to stay undefeated for the season and take an early lead in the NIC race struggled to find a footing in the first quarter. The team was able to recover and head into the locker room with the lead at halftime. It was the second half that really tested the teams work however and the Eagles responded well. Marian took the lead on Adams in the third quarter, outscoring Adams 19-9. With the necessary adjustments on offense and on defense, Adams was able to claw their way back, and taking the game down to the final minute of action, came out with the 57-54 win over the Knights.
Quentez Columbus was the leading scorer for Adams and in the game, ending the evening with 22 points. Columbus hit four 3 point shots and was perfect from the free throw line in his scoring dive.
Braydon Saxton scored 12 points, Lynn King scored 10 points, Sydney Jefferies scored 9 points, and Jessie Morgan had 4 points.
Adams remains perfect for the season at 4-0 and are 2-0 as they had a share of the lead in the NIC.
The Eagles will host cross town rival SB Riley on Tuesday night in a non conference game.
