Girls Varsity Swimming · Girls Swimming and Diving Finishes 2nd at SB City Meet

The Girls Swimming and Diving team competed in what is probably the biggest meet of the first half of the season on Saturday, swimming in the South Bend City Meet. The Lady Eagles competed well, and swam their way to a second place finish with a team score of 484.

The Eagles had one City Champion crowned at the meet and that was Lindsay Gizzi. Gizzi won Diving and on her way to the victory, broke the pool record at SB Riley and broker her own school record set a year ago. Gizzi’s 11 dives totaled out to a score of 483.80.

Diving was also a 1-2-3 finish for Adams. Beside’s Gizzi’s first place finish Katie Hensell took second with a score of 393.10 and Logan Kosik finished in third place with a score of 301.50.

While Diving might have been the only win for Adams, the depth of the team allowed Adams to place high in every event on their way to the runner up finish.

In the first event of the day Eamin lynch, Sofia Frazee, Lyza Kricheff, and Lindsay Collins took 4th place in the 200 Medley Relay. The team swam a combined time of 1:59.91. Elisa Nerenberg, Ivie Skube, Skye Peck, and Yvette Burton finished in 6th place.

Melany Morales Garibay was 6th in the 200 Freestyle. Her 6th place finish was in 2:19.89. Olivia Thompson finished 8th and Tania Gonzalez finished in 9th place.

In the 200 Individual Medley, Lynch was the 6th place finisher. Her finishing time was 2:31.98. Nerenberg finished in 7th place and Peck in 11th place. 

In the always exciting 50 Freestyle, S Frazee took 4th place in 26.79. Collins finished in 7th place and Burton in 8th place.

Kricheff finished in 5th place in the 100 Fly. Her finishing time was 1:05.33. Morales Garibay was the 8th place finisher and I Skube took 9th place.

All three Adams finishers finished right in a row in the 100 Freestyle. Collins was 7th in 1:02.40, Cecilia Frazee was 8th place, and Gonzalez was in 9th place.

Thompson was the 7th place finisher in the 500 Freestyle, swimming in 6:30.39. Mary Cate Baer finished in 9th place.

The highest relay finish for Adams was in the 200 Freestyle Relay. S Frazee, Addison Skube, Collins, and Burton teamed together to take third place in the event in a time of 1:52.23. I Skube, Morales Garibay, Gonzalez, and C Frazee finished in 5th place.

In the 100 Backstroke, Kricheff was the 4th place finisher, ending with a time of 1:05.65. Lynch took the 6th place finish and Nerenberg finished in 7th place..

S Frazee finished in 4th place in the final individual event of the day, the 100 Breaststroke. Frazee’s finishing time was 1:14.40. I Skube finished in 9th place and Izabelle Frank in 11th place.

To wrap things up for the Eagles, Morales Garibay, Kricheff, C Frazee, and Lynch took 4th place in the 400 Freestyle Relay with a team time of 4:11.99. A Skube, Thonmpson, Gonzalez, and Nerenberg finished in 6th place.

The Lady Eagles improve to 7-3 overall for the season. Adams will swim in their final home meet of the season on Tuesday night.
