Two of the top ranked teams in Class 4A faced off on Saturday night in the Phil Cox Memorial Tournament hosted by Kokomo HS. The Adams Boys Basketball team, the #10 ranked team faced off against #12 Jeffersonville in the Championship game of the tournament.
After a run through the bracket and a perfect season on the line, the Eagles were ready to continue to build on the momentum of the days and weeks prior.
Throughout the game, it was any teams game to win and to lose. Both teams were evenly matched, tied 11 a piece after the end of the first quarter. Jeffersonville had a 2 point lead at the half but Adams would not let the game get out of hand. After trailing only 5 points at the end of the third, Jeffersonville was just too much for the Eagles. Adams lost their first game of the season 52-44.
Brayden Saxton once again led the team, this time scoring 15 points.
Lynn King scored 9 points, Quentez Columbus scored 8 points, Sydney Jefferies had 3 points, and TeVaughn Columbus and Jessie Morgan each had 2 points.
King and McClatchey each hit a three point shot.
Adams finished the Phil Cox Memorial Tournament as the runner ups and have a season record of 9-1. The Eagles will play again on Tuesday January 7 at SB Clay.
