The final day of the Lady Devils Holiday Tournament at Tipton HS was in full swing on Saturday afternoon. The Adams Girls Basketball team, after finishing 1-1 the day prior advanced to play in the third place game of the tournament, taking on host Tipton HS.
The tough physical games the day before began to get the best of Adams however on Saturday. The Lady Eagles fell behind in the first quarter but were able to build their way back into the game, narrowing the deficit. Adams outscored Tipton 15 – 9 in the fourth quarter as they worked their way back, never giving up, but it was not enough however and Adams lost to Tipton 53-46.
Despite the loss, Adams had a strong comeback attempt in the game and finished in fourth place in the tournament.
Laila Williams was the leading scorer for Adams as she was in the two games prior in the tournament. Williams scored 13 points against Tipton and was 3 for 4 from the free throw line.
Loryn Higginbotham scored 10 points, DaQuejiha Vaughn scored 8 points, Samaya Sigur had 5 points, Marissa Shelton scored 4 points, and Valiyah Grundy, Whitney Marshall, and Myah Allen all had 2 points each.
Adams will have some rest for the New Year before they play again on Tuesday January 7 at SB Clay.
