The Girls Swimming and Diving team picked up a big win on Thursday night when the team defeated Elkhart Central on the road in Northern Indiana Conference action. The win would help in the equation that would determine final conference standings that would be finally determined on Saturday at the NIC Championships. Adams won over Elkhart Central 103-83.
Adams won only 5 events, but the teams depth helped pull the Eagles to victory.
The night opened up with a win for Adams. The team of Eamin Lynch, Sofia Frazee, Lyza Kricheff, and Lyndsay Collins won the 200 Medley Relay in 1:58.92. Adams also took 3rd in the event as well in 2:08.33, swam by Eliza Nerenberg, Elizabeth Tarner, Ivie Skube, and Addison Skube.
The next win for Adams came a little later from Lindsay Gizzi, Gizzi won Diving with a score of 307.50. Katie Hensell also performed well with a score of 244.90 and took the runner-up spot. Avery Curtis finished 6th with 155.20.
After diving, Kricheff finished as the winner of the 100 Butterfly. Her winning time was 1:04.03. Melany Morales Garibay took 3rd place in 1:11.55 and I Skube was 4th in 1:13.73.
S Frazee got an individual win in the 100 Breaststroke. Her winning time was 1:12.71. E Tarner was 4th in 1:20.96 and I Skube finished 5th in 1:24.92.
To close out the night, Adams won its final event of the meet. The 400 Free Relay team of Kricheff, Lych, Morales Garibay, and Yvette Burton won in 4:03.12. Adams also had a team finish in 3rd as well. C Frazee, Nerenberg, E Tarner, and Tania Gonzalez swam a time of 4:19.33.
While not winning, the numerous other points of the Eagles were just as important in the victory.
Morales Garibay finished in 2nd place in the 200 Freestyle. Close behind her was Gonzalez who finished 3rd in 2:18.99. C Frazee finished in 5th with a time of 2:23.95.
It was a nice 2-3-4 finish for Adams to help with the team point total in the 50 Freestyle. S Frazee was the runner up, swimming a time of 26.99. Lyndsay Collins finished in 3rd in 27.35 and Burton was 4th in 27.69.
In the 200 Individual Medley, Lynch finished in 2nd place with a time of 2:26.40. Nernberg swam 2:35.35 which was good for 4th place and E Tarner was 5th in 2:35.38.
Burton took 2nd place in the 100 Freestyle. Her finishing time was 1:01.05. Collins finished 3rd with a time of 1:01.15.
Nerenberg was the runner up of the 500 Freestyle. Nerenberg swam a time of 6:02.07. Finishing third was Gonzalez in 6:14.48.
Two Adams relays scored in the 200 Free Relay. S Frazee, Collins, Burton and A Skube finished 2nd in 1:49.34 and C Frazee, Gonzalez, Morales Garibay, and A Tarner finished 3rd in 1:55.60.
Finally, the Lady Eagles scored 3 swimmers in the 100 Backstroke. Kricheff finished 2nd in 1:04.44, Lynch took 3rd in 1:07.21, and C Frazee finished 4th in 1:12.60.
Adams closes out its 2019-2020 NIC dual meet schedule with a record of 7-3 going in to the NIC Championships on Saturday.
