Boys Varsity Swimming · Boys Swimming and Diving Finishes 9th at NIC Championships


The Boys Swimming and Diving team competed on Saturday in the 2020 Northern Indiana Conference Championship Meet. The Eagles competed well in the meet, having several finish as placers in the meet, and the team finished in 9th place overall in the conference with a score of 43 points.

Brendan Quinn placed as both an individual and as a member of a relay as well. Quinn’s best finish of the day, and the best for the team came in the 500 Freestyle. Swimming a time of 5:18.80, Quinn finished in 5th place. Quinn also swam well in the 200 Freestyle. Quinn finished 7th in a time of 1:55.99.

Quinn was also a member of the placing 400 Freestyle Relay as well.The relay made up of Quinn, Fernando Sanchez, Miguel Sanchez Castaneda, and Alexander Macharaschwili swam a time of 4:40.99, which was good for 15th place.

The two Eagle divers placed as well. Enzo Gizzi finished in 9th place. Gizzi’s finished with a score of 264.15. With a performance of 221.30, Micah Fourman finished in 13th place.

While not scoring, the Adams swimmers competed well in several other events. Andre Bowman competed in both the 200 Individual Medley and the 100 Backstroke.. In the 50 Freestyle, Sanchez Castaneda, Sanchez, and Tiras Baggett swam for Adams. Sanchez Castaneda, Macharaschwili, and Sanchez swam in the 100 Freestyle. Macharaschwili, Bowman, Bagget, and Sanchez swam in the 200 Medley Relay, and Quinn, Bowman, Bagget, and Sanchez Castaneda swam for Adams in the 200 Freestyle Relay. 

The Eagles will have some time off before they compete again in the IHSAA Sectional in a few weeks.
