Girls Varsity Swimming · Girls Swimming Advances to Sectional Finals

The Girls Swimming and Diving team will be well represented in the 2020 IHSAA Sectional finals on Saturday after competing in the Preliminary round on Thursday night at Pen HS.

The Lady Eagles will be advancing all three relays and three individuals in 4 events into the Championship Finals. The 200 Medley Relay swam by Eamin Lynch, Sofia Frazee, Lyza Kricheff, and Lyndsay Collins finished in 4th place in the prelims in a time of 1:57.61. Collins advanced with the 200 Freestyle Relay as well. Joining Collins was Yvette Burton, Sofia Frazee, and Addison Skube. The team swam a time of 1:49.89 which was good for 4th place. The best finish of the entire night came from the 400 Free Relay at the end of the night. The Eagles team of Kricheff, Lynch, Burton, and Melany Morales Garibay finished in 3rd place in a time of 4:03.37.

Kricheff will advance to the championship finals in two events. She finished in 7th place in the 100 Individual Medley with a time of 2:22.95 and also finished in 7th place in the 100 Butterfly in 1:03.58. Lynch will swim in the 100 Backstroke after finishing in 8th place with a time of 1:04.92. Sofia Frazee was the final individual to advance to the finals in the 100 Breaststroke, finishing in a time of 1:10.58.

Adams will also have 10 individuals swimming in 18 events in the Consolation Finals as well. 

Morales Garibay advances in both the 200 Freestyle and 100 Butterfly. She finished 9th in the 200 Free in 2:12.16 and her time of 1:08.87 was good for 12th in the Butterfly.

Tania Gonzalez finished 12th in the 200 Freestyle in 2:14.28. Gonzalez will also be swimming in the 500 Freestyle as well. Her 12th place finish came in 6:13.63. 

Besides her two relays, Burton will swim in two individual events. Burton was 14th in the 200 Free with a time of 2:18.63 and was 11th in the 100 Freestyle in 59.32.

Lynch has an individual event in the consolation finals as well. She will swim in the 200 Individual Medley after finishing 9th in 2:25.61.

Elizabeth Tarner will swim in two events. She finished 14th in the 200 Medley in 2:39.10 and with a time of 1:19.69, finished 12th in the 100 Breaststroke.

Sofia Frazee advanced in the 50 Freestyle. She finished 9th in 26.72.

Collins will have two individual events on top of her two relays. Collins was 12th in the 50 Free in 27.37 and 13th in the 100 Free in 1:01.22.

Cecelia Frazee was 12th in the 100 Freestyle in a time of 59.99 and was the 10th place finisher in the 100 Backstroke in 1:08.63.

Ivie Skube made it in the 100 Butterfly after finishing in 14th place in a time of 1:09.43. Skube will also swim in the 100 Breaststroke after finishing 12th in 1:24.05.

Finally, Elisa Nerenberg will swim in both the 500 Freestyle and the 100 Backstroke. Nerenberg finished 9th in the 500 Free with a time of 5:49.81 and was 9th in the Backstroke in a time of 1:00.23. 

The swimmers will also be joined by Divers Lindsay Gizzi, Katie Hensell, and Avery Curtis.

Diving preliminaries and semifinals will begin at 9:00 AM on Saturday. Swimming events will then begin starting at 1:00 PM
