Girls Varsity Swimming · Girls Swimming and Diving Finishes 4th at IHSAA Sectional

After an impressive opening night in the Sectional preliminaries, the Girls Swimming and Diving team looked to do the same on Saturday in the finals. Once the final scores were tallied, the Lady Eagles ended with a 4th place finish in the IHSAA Penn Sectional with a score of 283.

The Divers began the day, and it turned out to be a good day for Adams. Once the finals were complete, Lindsay Gizzi finished as the event runner up. Her 494.00 points was good for the 2nd place finish. Finishing just behind her and also making the podium was Katie Hensell, who finished in 3rd place with a score of 443.20. Both Gizzi and Hensell will advance to the Diving Regional on Tuesday night where they will compete for a trip to the State Finals. Also scoring in Diving was Avery Curtis. Curtis scored 262.55 which was good for 9th place.

Adams had competitors in six events in the A Finals, qualifying from their performances on Thursday night.

The 200 Medley Relay began the finals with a 4th place finish. Eamin Lynch, Sofia Frazee, Lyza Kricheff, and Addison Skube swam a time of 1:57.04.

In the 200 Individual Medley, Kricheff finished in 8th place, finishing with a time of 2:21.06. Kricheff also swam in the A Flight in the 100 Butterfly. In the 100 Fly she finished in 7th place in 1:03.67.

The 200 Freestyle Relay also swam in the A Finals. S Frazee, A Skube, Lyndsay Collins, and Yvette Burton swam a time of 1:48.61, which was good for 4th place.

Lynch swam as the final individual in the A Finals. She finished 8th place in the 100 Backstroke in 1:05.35.

To finish the night, the 400 Freestyle Relay finished in 3rd place. Kricheff, Lynch, Burton, and Melany Morales Garibay swam a time of 4:01.85.

There were also numerous swimmers from Adams swimming in the Consolation Finals as well.

Adams had three finishers in the 200 Freestyle. Morales Garibay finished in 9th in 2:13.07, Tania Gonzalez was 10th in 2:13.67, and Burton was 13th in 2:16.27.

In the 200 Individual Medley, Lynch was the 10th place finisher in 2:26.59. Swimming 2:39.38, Elizabeth Tarner finished in 15th place.

S Frazee took 9th in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 26.66. Collins was 11th in 26.88.

In the 100 Butterfly, Morales Garibay took 12th place in 1:07.00 and Ivie Skube took 15th place in 1:11.20.

There were three finishers in the 100 Freestyle, one right after the other. Cecilia Frazee was the 11th place finisher in 1:00.34. Burton took 12th in 1:00.49, and swimming 1:00.84, Collins took 13th place.

Elisa Nerenberg was the 9th place finisher in the 500 Freestyle. Nerenberg swam a time of 5:49.80. Gonzalez took 13th place after swimming a time of 6:12.65.

Nerenberg swam again in the 100 Backstroke, finishing 9th in 1:07.05. C Frazee took 10th place with a time of 1:08.64.

Finally in the 100 Breaststroke, Tarner finished in 13th place in 1:19.99. Finishing in 14th place was I Skube with a time of 1:24.72.

The season comes to an end for the swimmers in the pool, but Lindsay Gizzi and Katie Hensell will dive in the Penn Regional on Tuesday night. The top 8 in the Regional will advance to the State Finals on Saturday February 15.
